2 Weeks down

When we were in Cape Coast for a immigration  meeting with the mission we had a chance to go down to the market to shop for a printer and a key board.  This poor cab driver broke a tire in this hole in the road.  So He stopped and changed the tire right on the spot.

These are the Young Women from the Swedru 2 branch.  Sister Ivie had presented each one of them the special necklace the young women from our home stake had made for them at girls camp this last summer. They were very pleased with the gift.

This is young women's president with her baby ready to head for home.

The Elder helped us find the places in the Market where we could get vegetables, eggs, and bread.  Then we went to the cold store to buy some chicken for supper.  This young lady had a chunk of frozen chicken she laid on the floor and then chopped off a section with a large machete.  She would weight and then whack off another piece until she had the 5 lbs we wanted.

We will now give you a tour of our home

We have had a great week.  We traveled to Cape Coast for a special immigration meeting and received cards that indicate we are a residents of Ghana and do not need to carry our passports with us.

We were able to go shopping and see there market place.  It is much the same as Swedru except they have more pavement and a larger area.

We went to the Mission Home and were able to have our first Skype call since arriving.  It was good to know the our world is still there and functioning.  I want to take this time to express my gratitude for Eric and the big responsibility I left him.  I know you will do fine Eric and you will make the right choices, and that your team will help you.  That team includes your Heavenly Father, Rachel, Marilee, Garrett, Dave and your very able crew.  It is so helpful for us here to not have to worry about things at home.

We attended the Swedru 2 branch today and got to speak in Sacrament meeting with the District President. During young women Sister Ivie gave each of the Young Women a special necklace that represented the Young Women Value Colors and a special letter from the Young Women of the Farmington New Mexico Stake.

As you might expect Sister Ivie is surrounded by young children, (even without candy) she is like a magnet.  They just love her instantly and she loves them right back.  It is precious thing to watch.

Sister Ivie with Deborah, Angela, and Shawna,  they are drawing special pictures for Sister Ivie to add to our refrigerator door.  So far we only had one picture and that was the one Sydnee gave us before we left for Ghana

We invited Maxwell and Abigail and there children to dinner Saturday night.  We have internet, thanks to the efforts of Maxwell.  We spent a lot of time finding the best solution to our internet problems at our apartment.  He is a counselor in the Swedru 2 branch presidency.  Abigail is the District Relief Society president.  We had a wonderful evening.

  1. Love the pictures. It looks like Sunday Dinner at the Ivies! Especially liked seeing the YW with their necklaces. Just in time for Camp Review!
