When the Missionaries complete there mission (eighteen month for the Sisters and 2 years for the Elders), they travel to the mission home in Cape Coast for their last interview with the mission president, a wonderful meal, and a testimony meeting. The next morning the assistants to the president and the senior couples help transport them and there luggage to Accra. Once there they get to go to the Accra Temple, and then we take them to the airport for there return plane trip to home.
The Accra Temple and grounds are beautiful. The complex has the Temple, the Church Area offices, an Ancillary building that houses temple patrons who are needing to stay over night, A Stake Center, a Distribution Center and the condo that houses the Area Presidency. They will be building a new Missionary Training Center later this year that will house 500 missionaries, the current MTC houses 100 Missionaries. Those speaking English are here for twelve days. Those that are learning French are here for six weeks.
We feed them a little lunch before going to the temple in the cafeteria of the
Area Office building
Each Missionary receives a banner with his name and years of service on one side and and the mission motto "Forever Strong" on the other side. This is Elder Rowe from Sierra Leone; he has been serving in the Swedru District, and we really appreciated him and all of the help he and his companion gave to us, helping us find our way around and showing us the different shops where they get there eggs, vegetables and meats. etc
This was a very diligent and faithful group of Missionaries, who have served their Heavenly Father well. We love them and appreciate there service to the beautiful people in Ghana
Then we had to preform the last mission tradition, leaping into the future of their lives, remembering to be Forever Strong
Some keeping saying I should be in some of the pictures
This is a picture of the brand new missionaries with MTC Pres Graham and wife.
After staying over night at the MTC (Mission Training Center) we loaded up our new group of Missionaries. They have been at the MTC for the last twelve days and now they are ready to go to work. We traveled back to Cape Coast and the Mission Home for an orientation session, lunch and then they received there assignments, and areas where they will be serving. We took two of the new missionaries back to Swedru with us.
It is so amazing the commitment and level of testimony you are able to see in these Young Men and Young Lady. It will be nice to watch their growth over the next eighteen months.
We took one the new Elders and his Companion Elder Lee out to Odiben about 27 Kilometers from Swedru. And would anybody be surprised when we stopped that Sister Ivie could find any children to love. She is showing them the video she just took of them. I just could not resist taking her picture. She is a magnet for these little children, even without candy.

So fun to read your blog! Our son directed me to it today. Thanks for all you do to help our elders and sister missionaries! Also thanks for feeding Elder Doggett and Elder Cowan lunch a few weeks ago....that made their week! :-) Enjoy the journey! Sis. Doggett
